Currently, I am a student attending the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. At UT, I am majoring in Microbiology and maintaining a 3.18 GPA. During my education, I have had great opportunities to study the sciences and mathematics; however, history and philosophy are fun to study as well. My comments on tutoring Biology : Proficient in teaching biology to college freshmen to high school students

With two masters in chemistry field i have five years of experience teaching students in the fields of organic chemistry and general chemistry. I was a teaching assistant at university of north texas for a class of 90 students. I assisted in conducting classes, preparation of lesson plans, grading and proctoring exams. I helped students understand the difficult/tough to understand concepts by emphasis of fundamentals. I received many positive feed backs from the students which i can provide upon request.

I have training in the Balanced Literacy program in which the word study, reading objectives, and writers' workshop are combined in a one and a half hour block of student driven, teacher facilitated activities. These are ultimately shared in a whole group and or one on one setting. When tutoring, I do a very brief mini lesson on the objective and we go immediatley into the task at hand with instant feedback and adaptation between the reader or writer and myself as we progress through the lesson. If the student is hung on vowel digraphs, we stop and examine those and do word work with several examples. My next choices for them to read would have more vowel digraphs. If my student is confused about where to put the punctuation in a quotation, we will do several real world scenerios where he will write statements, questions, and exclaimations correcting as we go along.
