I am a Dance teacher, choreographer and performer as well as a Yoga instructor. I've been dancing for over 20 years and teaching for about 10. I received a Bachelor's in Dance from Brigham Young University in 2011, with an emphasis in Modern/Contemporary. Since graduating I've been teaching, choreographing and dancing professionally and will continue doing so for as long as is humanly possible. I teach mostly Intermediate/Advanced level tap, jazz, modern/contemporary (but am open to teaching all levels) and Beginner/Intermediate level ballet. I also teach Vinyasa Yoga and believe any type and level of dancer can improve tremendously physically and mentally through a Yoga practice. Dance and Yoga Teacher

My comments on tutoring Ballet : I began taking Ballet when I was two years old (no joke) and continued dancing until I was a senior in college (with the UNC-CH Starheels Dance Company).

I have a degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and have two years experience writing for the Daily Tar Heel. I have also completed internships with the local NPR station, WUNC, and with the organization AGRADU (Advocates for Grassroots Development in Uganda). I am highly organized, responsible, and driven, and am very personable. I work well with children and young adults; I am the oldest of five children and during high school and college, I worked as a dance teacher and nanny. I'm currently working on publishing my first novel.
I am a patient and understanding teacher. I enjoy fostering close relationships with my students so that I can cultivate my methods to best suit their learning style.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that children must be engaged in the subject matter before successful learning takes place. Finding fun, interesting, and personal ways for the child to connect to the topic will truly allow them a chance to learn and retain information. I love finding different ways for individual learners to understand what they are being taught.
I am a senior in the Education program at Appalachian State University. As an Elementary Education major, I have worked closely with children from many age levels. I myself am a visual and auditory learner, so I am very open to all types of teaching styles. I find that people learn better when several avenues of learning are available for a subject. Also repetition is a very important device for making knowledge permanent. I like to bring a fun and light atmosphere to learning.
