Upon graduation from college, I taught 7th grade English for two years, then Gifted & Talented grades 4-6. I left the field of teaching for marriage and babies. My husband was in the military, so we moved quite often. I homeschooled our two children for most of their elementary years. After that I taught 7th grade Algebra at a private school. I have tutored adults and children off and on over the years in various subjects, from reading to anatomy and math.
I believe the most important skill we can impart to children is a love for learning, and a curiosity about life. That, with a firm foundation in reading and math, will take them anywhere they want to go. I do utilize more of a socratic rather than a didactic approach, and endeavor to involve the learner in discovery as much as possible. I believe that everyone can learn if given the proper encouragement.

Most recently I was an Environmental Health and Safety Supervisor. I have given training presentations to groups from as small as three to as large as sixty. During this school year, I have worked as a substitute teacher for Calvary Christian Academy.I was involved in 4-H for 9 years. A Little Bit About Me...

All people can learn, you just have to find a way to make the student understand the information, if its hands on or reading or a combination of both. Children need the tools and the direction and if you provide them both, the sky is the limit. I want to make a difference in a child's life.
I have been working with the public for over 20 years, in that time I have worked with young adults as well as mature adults. I have also done some substitute teaching in elementary and high school levels. My experience is in food service and have dealt with many walks of life. I am a very committed member of Lincoln Kiwanis International as well as a member of the Central United Methodist Church. While I was a student at the University of Missouri I received a 5 hour A in Chemistry.

After studying a variety of subjects in college and graduate school, I realized that most (if not all) of the world's problems could be alleviated through better education. I love getting students interested and involved in studying and exploring all that the world has to offer. I like to facilitate this by using examples that students can relate to and are are interested in. All children are different, but they all deserve enough individualized attention to help them meet their potential. Just one person can make a huge difference in a child's life and how they feel about education.
As a former instructor at the University of Arkansas, I am dedicated to furthering the education of others. I have extensive experience in mentoring minors and persons with intellectual disabilites for 3 years. In highschool and college, I regularly tutored highschool and college students in algebra, highschool chemistry, and english.
I am very patient and reassuring to students and wait for them to get the answer on their own when tutoring mathematics. I show them how to do it first, then let them try, and then re-explain. We would continue this repetitively with different problems until they can do it independently. It is also important to listen very carefully as to what they are saying.

My teaching style is one of discipline and at the same time hands-on. Students must feel the relevance of the world around them in order to gain an understanding of what's being taught. I work with the individual but never let the focus off of the competition that's waiting. Students must understand that learning is an every day, every moment experience. It's all about how they see the world around them. I love teaching and working with children. The "aha" moment is what I live for. I believe that EVERY student can achieve what they set their mind to with guidance and persistence.
In a nutshell, I taught high school English for eleven years. I am passionate about all facets of education in the classroom and the real world. I have much to offer my students whether it be a love of literature, grammar and vocabulary or life itself! I love to teach.

A Little Bit About Me...

I began my teaching career in May of 2007 and never imagined the fulfillment I would receive. I have learned that each child is unique and special in their own special way. My style of teaching involves as much one on one involvement as possible. I think that repetition is a proven way to teach each child. I know that through proper guidance and attention each child will reach success. My goal and objection is to be the one who can help guide and mentor them along the way.
I am an extremely motivated Teacher with one and half year of teaching and mentoring experience. I have a bachelor degree in Business Management. I have a proficiency in MS Office, Internet research, and PC. Proven leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities. Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.

I am a very passionate teacher and I feel a strong sense of responsibility for the students I teach and tutor. I work to build a rapport with my students so that they are comfortable working with me and sharing their struggles with me. My teaching style certainly changes with each subject that I teach.
