A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a substitute teacher for over a year. I have subbed for every grade level and subject. A significant amount of my sub jobs have been math related. I am working on my Master's Degree at The College of Saint Scholastica, in Education. I also have had numerous classroom field experiences through the college, where I have been observed by other teachers and professors. During these experiences, every cooperating teacher has let me use them as a reference. I am a firm believer that if a student really wants to learn, and accepts a challenge, they can learn a language faster in a few months than most people can over the course of an entire school career. I don't believe in traditional styles that simply teach words and phrases, but rather I focus on the core of grammar. I love teaching because I truly enjoy seeing the light come on when a student gets it. I have had some excellent teachers in my life and have used their techniques to help students I tutor. I understand there is not one specific way to teach a subject and the key is asking questions to find out what will help a particular student. Having attended higher learning institutions for over 6 years, my drive for more education is apparent.
