As a student and teacher of history, I have had the pleasure of working both in the classroom and in large, nationally recognized museum education departments. As an historian of a variety of subjects, I have extensive experience in research, working with primary and secondary sources and materials, project presentations in various formats, and writing and editing essays, magazine articles, and research papers, marketing materials. I have been a judge for several years at the state's History Day student competition, and have worked as a substitute teacher in the local schools. I have taugh young girls ranging from 10-13 years old for an LDS Church, and enjoyed working with these girls, arranged activities to fun places and helped college students with certain skill sets - math, English, Computer Programming (C+, Networking, Access, PeopleSoft). I am a very helpful person who loves to help others to success with their classes, and enjoyed seeing how their grades improved with some of the help that I have rendered to these students - they did well on their tests, quizzes and coached them with Speech class as well. I fundamentally believe anyone can learn. If a student isn’t grasping a concept, it just means I have to change my style of teaching. I ask questions, I make math fun!! I draw pictures. The assinments are OUR assignments the students are not alone. Math was hard for me too I GET why they are stuck!!
I work with students of various backgrounds, aging from pre teen to retirement age, many with learning disabilities, many who are also ahead of their peers. I have a resource room and lesson plans for each group of students seperated by subject. I help them with Math, time management and note taking. I work closely with other administrative staff and allow students to discover their potential.
