I am very dynamic personable adult who loves to laugh, but also knows how to get down to business and get work done. This helps the student to feel comfortable so they can ask questions, even those they may feel to be stupid. The goal of my approach is to enable students to have a level of ownership in learning concepts and ideas. Merely teaching the idea is not enough, and that "Oh, I see" moment must occur to embed the idea for long-term growth. I enjoy relating the ideas and facts to real world examples that almost anyone can grasp.
For a period of five years, I offered tutoring services to students at the University of Chapel Hill, Duke University, and North Carolina State University.
