I like to have organization and structure while tutoring but I also am flexible and can change my approach on how I am helping the student based on his/her body language. If a student is bored and loves sports, after reading I love to go outside and play basketball with them while asking them questions about what we've just learned. Incorporating their interests in learning the subjects is important to me.
I have experience tutoring students at an elementary and middle school level in reading, Spanish and science and math. I have earned a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in Nutrition and Spanish. I am currently in graduate school studying integrative medicine. I do have experience with tutoring students with special needs including students with autism.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of sciences I have an in depth knowledge of the basic skills that are needed to continue a higher education. I have completed 140 hours in college that includes plenty of hours in biology, physics, math (thru calculus III) , and chemistry. I have also been tutoring freshman college students in these areas for several years. I know what it takes to learn and retain the vital information that needs to be learned before the student enters college. A Little Bit About Me...

My wife and I home-schooled our three children from 1993 until 2004. In addition, I was active in Scouts from 1994 until 2007 as Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster and Merit Badge Counselor. These positions are supervisory in nature and involve both formal and informal teaching, mentoring and guiding. This experience also entailed several summer camps. My strengths are in the natural sciences, which formed the bulk of my work at UT, and English composition and grammar, as I gained extensive experience proofreading and writing essays for publication.
