My teaching philosophy is focused on teachers being facilitators for students to construct their own knowledge and making learning relevant and purposeful to the students. When teaching, I think about each student's individual learning styles and adapt my lessons to fit those needs. I really try to make learning fun and make sure students understand why they are learning something. I feel that with those things in place, they will be more motivated to learn and continue to learn throughout their lives. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching children of all ages and adults. I am patient and a good listener and can zoom in on what a child needs help in. If a child has difficulty grapsing some concept, I believe the teacher can slow down and tackle whatever problem the child is having by using an understanding and nonjudgmental approach.
As a graduate of the State University of NY at Albany, I am very interested in helping others learn. I hold 2 degrees, BA in English and MS in Education/English s a Second Language. Before earning a BA in Biology at Skidmore College and after graduating high school, I took three years off to play hockey. Concurrently, I enrolled in classes at Mount Wachusett Community College in Massachusetts and tutored in the math department. I tutored students in algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, and some calculus. At Skidmore I continued in math, taking calculus I, II, and III, and linear algebra before focusing my attention on molecular biology. I habitually studied with my classmates and I found great satisfaction helping others understand complex subject matter. The challenge to explain concepts in alternative ways in order to cater to different learning styles was enriching to my own understanding. After graduating college I taught elementary K-8th grade in NYC. I taught for one year and decided to live Paris, France teaching English. I lived in Paris, France for 1.5 years then moved to Rome, Italy, again teaching English. My experiences were wonderful as I met people who really enjoyed learning English and needed it for work. After 6 months I returned to the states and taught at a Junior High School on the Lower eastside of NYC. I left teaching after 10 years to market computers. My skills as an educator served me well and I did extremely well. After approximately 8 years I decided I wanted to go back to teaching, and have been teaching the use of computers.
