I earned a Bachelors degree in English from Western Michigan University in 19997. I taught at the middle school and high school levels. My experience in the classroom has prepared me for other tasks such as tutoring outside the classroom. During my years of teaching I did provide tutoring services for students through the Urban League Organization.
For as long as I can remember, I have loved working with children. I believe that every child is capable of learning when given the necessary tools and encouragement needed. I left the classroom in 2006; however, I do not want to completely give up teaching and for this reason, I think that tutoring is a great match for me.

In 2003, I achieved a Bachelor of Education degree from Grand Valley State University. I truly enjoy working with students and assisting them in become successful in every area of their education. Currently I tutor students in Math and English and like challenging students to really think and work hard at accomplishing their goals. I have always loved teaching and working with kids. I have volunteered at a number of places that allowed me to exercise my ability to tutor and mentor children ages 5-17. Since high school, I have volunteered at a local preschool. This past summer, I spent time in Honduras teaching English at an orphanage. Both of these models stress the importance of leading students through learning sequences that foster a more complete learning than can be achieved from a single perspective.
