A Little Bit About Me...

I'm certified in both elementary general and special education. I've taught for the past 19 years. I have my masters in educational administration and will soon be a certified educational diagnostician. My favorite subjects are reading and math. I can tutor/teach writing but it's not my favorite subject. My philosophy is that every child can learn but our job as teachers is to figure out the best way to meet their learning needs. Do you need an advanced tutor?

Experience tutoring MS, PhD, post-doctoral, or resident-interns in the medical field. I also have tutored established PE type engineers and MBAs for executive type presentations. Have tutored high school and undergrad as well. The teaching style is adaptable, but I prefer tutor either in a university library, coffee house, or classroom environment.

Struggles with math or reading

My teaching style can fluctuate depending on the child and what needs to be accomplished. My goal is to build confidence in the student through small but very important accomplishments. I use a combination of technology and good ole pencil and paper to teach anything from math to reading.
Teaching children is something that brings me joy. Watching them make strides and connections in their learning makes me smile. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is one of patience and fun. I let the children read aloud and when I cross a word I think they don’t understand I stop. First I try to determine if they can answer the word based upon its place in the sentence. I encourage them to stretch their brains. I make a contest of who can find the word the fastest in the dictionary and we discuss the meaning.
I have been substitute teaching in the Dallas Independent School District for the past three school years. I teach grades six through twelve but would love to teach elementary.
