My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : I've been writing since 2nd grade; I won a story contest in elementary school and was also published in the University of Cincinnati Medical School's World AIDS Day bulletin (2007). Writing is a beloved pastime of mine as well as an inherent strength.

Successful test prep retired English teacher

I recently retired from the HOPE School of Hamilton City Schools. The HOPE School is a credit recovery school that helps students get caught up for graduation. Students who are too far behind to complete graduation in a timely manner are given GED tutoring. I was in charge of this tutoring and tutoring for state standards tests. I went to Princeton High School, and took American Sign Language throughout my high school career. I am currently working on my Masters in German Studies, as well as getting my teaching license. I have plans to go through the TEFL program to earn certification in teaching English as a Foreign language. I have been studying and teaching German/ESL since high school. I also lived abroad in Russia for sometime, and am continuing to learn Russian on my own. I can also teach the basics of the Russian language.
I like to speak, slowly and thoroughly, in the language I'm tutoring in. For example, I would conduct most lessons in German, but at a slow and comprehensive pace, so that students are able to "pick up" on the German language as if it were second nature. If there is an issue with miscommunication, I switch to English, and explain the concept again in German.
