My easy going nature and fun personality allows me to make learning interesting. I have always believed that the best way for someone to learn is to put the information into terms that are understandable to them. In the past I have used illustrations, acted out scenes from battles, utilized initialisms, and made up songs to help students learn concepts. Connections between the content and familiar concepts are essential, and thus I find it very important to get to know the student and how they learn in order to best help them. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that students best learn from doing. My role as a tutor is not just to provide answers, but to facilitate and encourage learning. However I am also able to provide a knowledge base in a number of subjects to help answer questions the student may be struggling with. I am comfortable working with children of all ages to help them meet their full learning potential as students.
As a graduate of a small liberal arts college, I have spent many hours volunteering to help tutor my classmates in both biology and the humanities. I hold a bachelor's degree in biology. I have learned extensive grammatical skills through my school's intensive general studies program. I am confident in my ability to tutor students in mathematics, science, English and the humanities at the K-12 level and biology and English at the college level.

As a communication disorders major I have acquired an understand and love for working with children. During my internship I was able to work one-on-one with children who have language disabilities. It was through this internship that I learned what a reward it can be to help others, and to see them flourish intellectually.
I have always believed that each child is truly unique. I However do not believe that all education and forms of it, should be uniform. I completed all of my field work in school 2006-2008 and completed my student teaching in 2009. During this time, I planned and taught lessons in all subjects to grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. Along with teaching lessons, I also tracked students progress, and worked with students one on one to help struggling students succeed.
