My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : Reading skills and strategies for deep comprehension are taught for middle school students using various resources.

I have been teaching in a public school in the Sugar Land area for 27 years. For the past 10 years, I have taught both regular education and GT students in the English Language Arts block. Many of my former students were waived ESL intermediate students whose grasp of reading and writing grew within the time spent in my class. I began tutoring people when I was in the eigth grade. I decided I wanted to help out at the school across the street from my middle school in Colorado. I enrolled in a class that allowed us to go and assist the teachers and help the students. I fell in love with kids then for sure. I already knew I liked them because I started babysitting when I was 11 and couldn't stop! Then in ninth grade, a neighbor failed kindergarten and asked if I would starting coming over several days a week to help him understand what was being taught.
