Psychology is one of my top subjects! I have a minor in psychology at the bachelor level, and am working on my masters' degrees in community mental health counseling and school counseling.

I began tutoring in high school, as a sophomore. I started tutoring freshmen, and continued throughout my high school career. I would also often lead study groups with friends. In college, I was never an official tutor. However, I would lead study groups with friends. I have a strong background in sociology, which was my undergraduate major. I minored in psychology as well. I have been taking Psychology classes since high school where I fell in love with it. I have taken a wide variety of courses such as Lifespan Psychology, Pyhsiological Psychology, Counseling, Interpersonal Psychology, Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Special Population Psychology, Treatment of Drug and Alcohol Psychology, and Developmental Psychology. I was accepted into the Psychology Honors Society, Psi Chi, because of academics and being in the top 35% of my class. I just graduated this spring with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Minor in Child Development.

My first focus in on developing rapport with the student and also discussing what they (or their parent/s) may be looking for from a tutor. I like to take a positive and developmental approach which focuses on building in goals and building on the success of those goals. Also finding out how the student learns or likes to learn, and assessing what has been successful/not so successful in the past for learning a subject.
