After graduating college, I served in the US Army for six years as a Chemical Defense Officer. My primary duty was to ensure that all 17,000 soldiers in the 1st Cavalry Division were trained and equipped to properly deal with chemical and biological hazards. To effectively and efficiently complete this duty, I was constantly teaching, coaching and mentoring both fellow officers as well as enlisted soldiers. I served in this role here in the states as well as on (2) 14-month deployments to Iraq. I currently teach four math classes at Everitt Middle School.

I received an AAS in 1984 at Alfred State College and was a nominee for Reatial Management Student of the Year. I worked full time and part time while obtaining my BA from Troy State University while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I have been on the Board of Directors for Girls Inc. for the past 4 years and volunteer my time with them.

For example, some people may learn through discussion, while others may need to see pictures or presentations of the subject matter. I like to identify how the person learns first through questions, or by testing them with a simple task first to identify the method which seems to work best for them. Once this has been identified, training can begin.
