A Little Bit About Me...

I love learning math and science and I enjoy sharing the same love of learning with my students. I like seeing the look on their face when they really get it! Students requiring tutoring are sometimes in academic distress and have anxiety therefore I have a more easy going and patient style of tutoring than most. I believe I'm an effective tutor because I remember the exact same difficulties and questions I had as a student and can relate to their frustration. Most people as well as myself are visual learners thus I teach by working several examples and gradually increasing the difficulty at a pace set by the student. I would rather spend a whole tutoring session working a few examples the student completely understands as opposed to several problems with no understanding. In earning my bachelors of science degree at the University of South Carolina Aiken, I gained a true love for biology. I excelled in entry-level biology classes, as well as higher-level science classes such as ecology and evolution. I am also proficient in writing, English, and math. During my college career, I have tutored mostly in sciences and math.
I know firsthand that great teachers make great students. It took several years to discover my learning style because I had to find it on my own. I want to be able to help students find their own learning style. I believe that subjects are best learned when broken down, and repetition is key. I also believe practice makes perfect.
