I am an Electrical engineer currently working for IBM as a logic design engineer. I have been tutoring students for past 10 years. Ever since I was a kid, I would be lured by the sight of a telephone or a remote control. I would spend my time building blocks and solving puzzles. These innate qualities in me have blossomed into the strong desire to become an engineer. With mathematics and physics being my strong subjects in school, I have always nursed an ambition to be an engineer. With my entrance into high school, my love and enthusiasm for the subjects rose to such an extent that I restricted myself not only to reading books but also delved into the world of circuitry construction. Recent creations which lie within the realm of my ‘trusty screwdriver’ and soldering iron include a listening bug and a metal detector. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been playing chess since the age of 5. I lived and played in the U.S. as well as in France. In addition to playing, I have also been coaching scholastic chess since about 2005. My Middle School team won 5 consecutive city championships (Rochester, MN). We have also had several fourth place and one first place finishes in the Minnesota State Scholastic Championships and have had one state champion and a runner up in that time same period. It takes a good deal of work and dedication to become proficient at chess, but chess gives much back to its devotees. You make lifelong friends, sharpen your intellect, your focus, and your concentration in the process.
I am fairly laid back. Above all else, I tell my kids that to be focused and to concentrate in chess requires a strong will to win, but winning is not everything. I think of chess as an art form. It takes two people to ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am both patient and enthusiastic in my teaching style, believing that learning and growing offer tremendous rewards, even as there are inevitable challenges to be overcome along the way. I have experience teaching all generations, from young children to older adults, and believe that learning comes in all different forms and styles. One of my favorite aspects of teaching is seeing students have their own particular breakthrough where a difficult concept or principle becomes clear.
I am an avid learner and enjoy teaching and providing the same educational opportunities to others that were afforded to me. I have two Master degrees along with a Bachelor degree, with particular teaching emphases in History and English grammar and composition. I have experience teaching English, tutoring international students, and, I recently served as a weekly newspaper columnist for two years.
