My teaching style is largely inter-active. For math courses, I try to lead students to a better understanding of the principles involved. For history courses, I try to encourage students to analyze, assess, and, if they don't agree,challenge orthodox interpretions of historical facts.
After earning my accounting degree I worked as an accountant for the University of Akron. Before taking early reirement in 1997, I taught remedial math to the university freshmen approximately five times between 1992 and 1997. During this same period of time, I also worked as a reading tutor for Project LEARN of Summit County. In 2005,I began teaching undergraduate-level history course for Kent State University as I was working on my dissertation. At MSU, I first worked as a Supplemental Instructor and then became a Graduate Assistant (before I even earned my Bachelor's degree) in the School of Business.
