What a better way to teach your teen than by a teen?

I graduated high school in late October of 2012. I am not currently in college. I am working twords bettering my future. I enjoy helping others and I find it easy. I used to be tutored and I hated it because the tutors seemed to not care if I got it. I make sure the person or people I am tutoring understand and remember how to do what I am asked to teach them. In high school my teachers used to send me to other classes and tutor kids in the middle of class. I am extremely flexable and can help just about anyone I try to teach. I will not say every because no one is perfect and I'm not going to pretend I am.

Chess is one of my top subjects! I can teach students anywhere from beginner up to those starting serious tournament play.

I prefer to work with students one on one, getting a sense of their skill level, and then engaging with them where they are at to help them work towards their own personal goals.
I have been playing chess for close to seven years, many of those at the tournament level. I was a natural when I started, and have only grown in my concepts of the logic and theory of the game. While working on my MS at the University of Tennessee, I taught lecture and outdoor laboratory sessions for the Ornithology course, which included about 30 students. As the coordinator of the Conservation Science Internship Program at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, I am responsible for much of the training of 5-11 interns at one time. While attaining a BS in Mathematics at Penn State University, I was heavily involved in peer tutoring. For two semesters I spent 10-20 hours per week working one-on-one with students struggling or seeking a higher level of success in courses ranging from pre-algebra to calculus 2. Though I've never tutored a physics student, I've taken several course and am well enabled to tutor in this area as well. Additionally, I acted as a supplemental instructor for calculus 2.
