My experience teaching children in theatre was also very participatory. I believe that students learn best when they can understand a given concept from several different angles. A Little Bit About Me...

I spent the last three years obtaining my MS in organic chemistry. Of this time, I spent two years teaching and helping undergraduate students with chemistry and biology. I spent one semester teaching general chemistry classes and an additional semester teaching an organic chemistry lab section. Having two wonderful elementary teachers, I was inspired to become a teacher. I graduated in 1988 with an Elementary Education degree. I began my career as a teacher's aide but soon decided to be a stay-at-home mom to my two children. In 1994, I began to home teach my three children. I graduated my youngest in 2008. In 2004, I substitute taught for two local school districts. In spring 2008 I renewed my teaching license. I received my first teaching job at a Christian school in Indianapolis where I taught first grade. The school downsized so I resigned allowing the tenured teachers to keep their jobs. In addition i tutored a student in High School in several subjects. Most of my experience tutoring has been in math, physics and engineering, but I am also fluent in Spanish.
My teaching style is helping the student arrive at the correct solution. In problem based courses this is usually done through asking the student what they think the next step should be and guiding them through the process of problem solving. Once they start to understand problem solving then they do not only improve in the course that I am tutoring them in but in their other courses as well.
