A Little Bit About Me...

From 1991-2004,I worked as a Transition Teacher for student's with disabilities. My primary responsibility was to do planning, motivation, student self-assessment,individual performance that was teacher observed and on site assessment by the employer in a supported work environment.I've also taught Social Studies and Economics at the Secondary level. A Little Bit About Me...

I was a substitute teacher for Wappingers Central School district from April 2013 to June 2014. I taught grades 6 - 12 for a variety of subjects including, but not limited to Social Studies, Spanish, English, Music, and Special Education. One particular position I held was that I was a substitute Spanish teacher at Van Wyck Jr. High School teaching grades 7 - 8 from February to March 2014. More About This Tutor...

I love to teach and see the ideas light up the eyes of the person who suddenly got a concept. I think teaching should be adaptable and should fit the learning style of the student. Visual tasks, memory games, and hands-on-learning are, in my opinion, the best way to help someone truly learn (versus rote memory). I think that with the right guidance and put in the right environment, anyone can learn. I look forward to being that "right guidance."

My teaching style is to draw connections to what the students are trying to learn with what is happening today that they might be interested. When I am able I like to show them where the event happened [if it is history] so that the student does not just hear names and dates but can picture it in their head.
