I have worked with companies whose major focus was to increase math and science scores. I have found visual aids are an effective way to teach math and other subjects. Because my educational background is mathematically and science based, most of my tutoring experiences are in the subjects of math and science. However, I do have experience tutoring students in all subjects. In addition to this, I have over 2 years of experience in teaching GED level classes. I have worked with adults of all ages and have helped students obtain their GED. My experience as an instructor was with Wiregrass Technical College (formerly Valdosta Technical College). My teaching style with my own children is conversational, hands-on, and intuitive. I explore what most captures their attention, then weave in the lessons by using any available teaching aids, such as whiteboard drawings, to illustrate a point, literally.
My German parents spoke (so-called "high", or proper) German at home in NY/NJ, which came in handy after we moved overseas when I was 13. Repeating 7th grade, I learned to read and write German fluently, as well as master the local dialects and sundry colloquialisms without a lingering accent. Doing so allowed me mask my heritage, enroll in higher education, and learn a trade, culminating in a long and rewarding all-encompassing painting career abroad and in the eastern US, before settling in Texas to explore telecommunications.
