My comments on tutoring Writing Skills : I've always had strong writing skills. I've written several scientific dissertations and papers to fairly high praise. In my free time, I write music and stand-up comedy. I'm also currently developing and writing a potential science fiction TV series to pitch to production executives.

I always liked playing up my quirky personality. My favorite teachers and professors were the goofy ones, the ones who can relate to the students' fun side. These teachers also challenged me the most, and I ended up getting so much more out of the course. I figure that, if a student likes the teacher, he or she will pay more attention and have a deeper respect for the teacher. The teacher then can use this trust to push the student a little more, intellectually. I find that is what works best for me.
I don't any paid, professional tutoring experience. However, I have volunteered my services to family members and friends. During my sophomore year, I took Organic Chemistry and excelled. Towards the end of my college career I assisted in "Community New Start" in Austin, TX which was a mentor program assisting high school children in under-privileged districts. I assisted with basic math and English material. A few months later a group of us from the University of Texas assisted in the "Reagan High School" project, where the district was considering closing the school down due to failing TAKS scores, mainly in reading comprehension and math.
