I'm here to help!

I have a relaxed, stress-free teaching style, while staying on task and topic. I make sure the pupils really understand the material by breaking things down to the basics, and reviewing the foundations. After reviewing and application of the concepts, I have my students switch roles and "teach" me the material. I believe if you can explain the material to someone else, you really understand it.
I double-majored in biology in chemistry in undergrad, so the field of science and medicine is my first love and my strength. My approach to tutoring is to first find which specific area is causing each individual problems. Once we work on that area and master the concepts, I will then go back an work with each student to figure out a study strategy that will work for them long term. The goal is for them to be able to be successful on their own in their studies so they no longer need me! I am a Masters Degree holder in Bioinformatics and our curriculum encompasses Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, Computer science, Immunology, Mathematics, Molecular Biology & Genetics, Proteomics, Statistics, Sequence Analysis and Structural Biology. A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked for Norfolk City Public Schools and Virginia Beach City Public Schools as a substitute teacher for approximately six years. During that period I performed a multitude of jobs including long term substitute positions, teaching high school physics, and performed tasks far beyond the parameters of substitute job specifications. This current school year I was requested by the school improvement specialist, to work as the primary SOL tutor for Earth Science.
