I worked with a variety of ages from k-12. My most recent experience has been with students in elementary school. I worked for a semester teaching children about sustainable practices and the benefits of buying produce from local farms. While I am most comfortable with high school students, I have great communication skills and can work well with all children.

A Little Bit About Me...

When I was in the classroom I prided myself in "getting the educational job" done while at the same time having some fun. I have always had a strong rapport with students and believe I am adept at transferring my knowledge and educational talents. I consider myself to be a strong motivator without being overbearing.
I started my college education at Stanford University but finished up Cal State Stanislaus University with a degree in physical education and biology. I then taught primarily language arts and science at the middle school level for three years. After satisfying my educational wanderlust, I am now re-entering the educational field. I consider myself to be an extremely strong teacher, particularly in the language arts field.

I recently graduated from Bard College, a selective liberal arts school in New York. I have taken classes in a variety of subjects including biology, french, history, and writing. I recently completed a 90 page thesis. I have excellent critical thinking and writing skills, which have served me well as a student. As a tutor, I strive to engage my students in thinking complexly about the topic at hand. I have experience tutoring middle school aged children in music, math, and writing. When it comes to teaching, regardless of age, I find it effective to hone in on the individuals thought process to adapt my teaching style to fit with this. I feel that learning should be done in a way in which the student will enjoy themselves, and actually look forward to learning more.
