I'm passionate about what I do because I've been through classes in subject matter that I struggled in or was disinterested in and I want to be able to help others feel more comfortable in math where they might be weak or unsure. I also realize that sometimes the issue is motivational not a matter of comprehension. Having also dealt with feeling a lack of motivation I desire to light a spark in those who I help to reach for their best.

As an ex-patriate, I was afforded the opportunity to learn Spanish fluently and have witnessed first hand its importance in business and life today. I like to work through each type of problem step by step creating a blue print of what the student should be doing to solve each type of problem. I like to go through every type of problem like this while they write the steps of how to do the problem down and then try to solve each problem step by step. A Little Bit About Me...

I received my BS in Biology from UNCW and for the last 15 years I have been an Environmental Chemist. Now, I am pursuing my true calling as an educator. It was a regular part of my job to teach and train new grad students and employees and also to do community outreach. Each individual learns in different ways, some are tactile learners, some are visual, and some are auditory learners. In mathematics, I was taught early on that in order to prove something you need three things: 1. facts that are obvious/self-evident 2. relate them in a logical way 3. frame these facts and their relationships inside of a theory Engineering is just applied mathematics. I believe that anyone can do it, at their level; the key for an educator is to have sufficient people skills to diagnose the problem areas a given student might have and then address those in the context of solving a given problem.
