My comments on tutoring Spanish : Spanish and Guarani are my native dialects. I also speak some Portuguese and basic English.

I am a native Spanish speaking criminal and civil trial attorney. I do not have extensive tutorial experience but I am very personable and professional. I legally immigrated from Paraguay to the U.S. in 2009, following my marriage to my husband who is a U.S. military servicemember. I hope that by helping others learn Spanish, then I will be able to improve my own grasp of the English language.
I believe that speaking ability should be the primary focus of any language, along with traditional reading and writing skills. So I would decribe my approach as conversation-based. However, I am willing to focus instruction based on the client's desired outcome.

Spanish is one of my top subjects! I am not a Spanish teacher, however I do know how to teach Spanish. I spent a year in Argentina not knowing a word of spanish. I went through a difficult program in which I was taught spanish as a second language and I shared a room with 5 other girls who only spoke spanish. I know how to memorize spanish I know how to study for a spanish test and I can explain the basics of spanish as well as the more complex aspects of spanish to anyone willing to learn. Not only do I know and understand the grammatical aspect of the language but I also understand the different cultures and accents of spanish in different South American countries. I would be happy to help teach or understand or even practice spanish with anyone who needs help and is willing to learn.

The way I teach depends on the needs of the student. I personally learn by being show and then doing something while someone stands there to make sure I do it correctly until I can do it on my own. I can use visual strategies, repetition, games, songs, rhymes, whatever it takes to make sure I am clear and understood. I was always a slow learner when it came to certain subjects so I understand the frustration a child, or student can experience when a teacher is impatient or they just cant seem to get it right no matter what. I was born in Valencia Venezuela, and lived there until I moved to the United States in the 80's I graduated with a Business Administration Degree and I have worked for bank of America teaching/tutoring executives in conversational spanish and vocabulary before schedule trips overseas. Spanish is my native language, I am skilled in written and verbal spanish.

A Little Bit About Me...

I received my undergraduate degree in Spanish from UNC Charlotte in 2010 in Spanish and Latin American Studies. During my undergraduate career I traveled to Costa Rica for a total of 6 months as part of a study abroad program. After completing my undergraduate degree I returned to Costa Rica for 5 months to teach English at a language institute. In May of 2013 I graduated with my Master's degree in Spanish from UNCC. During my Master's I was a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant. As part of my assistantship I spent 9 hours a week tutoring undergraduate students in Spanish and I also taught 2 elementary Spanish courses a semester my last year of the program.
