As a UNCP alumnus, I currently hold a BS in Biology. I have tutored peers in the past during my second year at UNCP. Subjects that I am familiar are science and math. Each individual learns in a different manner. Some students are visual learners, while others are better served by a hands-on environment. Using varied instructional strategies is a technique I have practiced when working with students who are struggling with a particular concept or subject matter. The key to learning is to be engaged in and excited about the learning process. If a student is struggling with a particular subject, establishing a connection to that subject is essential. By learning about the student and his or her interests, the educator has a better opportunity to engage and excite that student. This engagement and excitement will only lead to academic success.

I think that a good educator is the key to success in a child's life. I can still remember my second grade teacher (Ms. Golf), she made learning fun and seemed like everyday was an adventure in her class. Sadly, not all teachers are like that. I do believe that all children learn in different ways. I think that if a child is given a chance and shown some patience, there isn't anything they can't acheive. Children should be guided in learning. They have short attention spans and I think learning should be made fun in order to hold their attention.
