I believe teaching should be preparation for the real world outside of school. For that reason I strive to make all assignments relevant, meaningful, and useful to the students. I try to fuel motivation by making the assignments fun and purposeful. I hold students to a high standard as preparation for future jobs (no late work, no coming in to class late, etc.) I believe every student can be reached, but that all students are at different levels and require their own amount of one-on-one help, motivation, challenge, and dedication. I am a very patient teacher. If it seems someone is 'just not getting it' I will try a different approach. People learn at different levels, and what works for one does not always work for another; therefore,finding the way for each individual student is the key. I have also found that most people learn a task by 'hands on' learning, not listening to how it should be done. In this situation, giving someone the tools to do the work themselves gives them the confidence to do it, and feel good about conquering the challenge.
As a working professional, I was driven later in life to get a degree that was started right after high school. A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with children and feel that is my God given talent. I believe that all children can and will learn with the proper time given to them. All children learn differently. As a teacher you have to work on the best way to teach that child. I feel that tutoring you have the full attention of the child. By working one on one the child will benefit greatly.
I have been working with elementary children for 19 years. I have expericence as a Title 1 Teacher Assistant, Special Education aide, Substitute teacher and Sunday school teacher. I have tutored in reading and math. I am currently attending Ashford University to complete my Early Childhood degree in 2012. I will then continue to get my degree in Special Education.
