My comments on tutoring Sign Language : American Sign Language and also Mexican sign language.

I was born and raised in Texas. I grew up with ASL. I love teaching whoever want to sign basic or advanced. I'm friendly, patient, and outgoing. I teach people deaf culture and history. I am also blunt and kind to make ASL better. I won't bite people who want basic signs. People who want advanced skills I can help into certified interpreter.

Sign Language is one of my top subjects!

Growing up teaching ASL classes or families or individual. I born deaf and have deaf family as well. People who want to learn ASL or want be fluent in signing it would be better to learn from deaf person. I taught ASL at east high school for one year while I was student there. I have experience communicate with hearing people with no clue of ASL and now is fluent signing ASL.

I have a holistic, eclectic style of Teaching. When I work with any student,or students, I always determine what proficient level they are at.If they are having any problems grasping the subject, I must do diagnostic testing to remediate at progress from that point forward. When the student has reached a level of proficiency,he or she may move on to whatever subect,or level that pertains to. Yes, each student is unique and can reach their full potential under the right guidance encouragement, and support. Yet, I firmly believe that all students must master the fundamentals, no matter what subject.

Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I recently graduated with high honors from Rochester Institute of Technology's American Sign Language Interpreting program at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf. I completed my four year degree with a 3.94 GPA. During my time at NTID, I learned ASL by taking a variety of rigorous classes, interacting with my Deaf peers, and attending frequent tutoring sessions. In addition to my studies of American Sign Language, I also took many classes in ASL regarding Deaf Culture. All of my Sign Language professors were Deaf, as were my Deaf Culture professors.

When it comes to language, I believe that people tend to learn best by doing. I also believe wholeheartedly that successfully learning a language depends on your exposure to that language. Continuous exposure to any language can help language acquisition. For English, regardless of what specifically the student is struggling with, consistent reading and writing practice is key. With a manual language like ASL, practicing signing skills and receptive skills is invaluable. Finally, I believe that people learn better when their strengths are pointed out and highlighted rather than their weaknesses. Many students who struggle in school are caught in a perpetual cycle of perceived failures. Optimism, unwavering support, and excitement are key when working with any student.
I have always had a passion for learning. Part of my passion includes helping others learn, grow, and succe ... read more

My philosophy around human learning and knowledge retention involves relationships. Human beings are connected to each other and to all wisdom. Establishing healthy and loving relationships with students and their families facilitates that all key players gain knowledge and are afforded the opportunity to develop deep understandings of concepts taught, increase retention time and improve retrieval. I embrace the National Boards for Professional Teaching Standards five core propositions. The first indicates that accomplished teachers know their students and know each of their students’s learning styles and needs. Adults responsible for children’s learning must make the effort to know all that might help them understand their students’ strengths and build on those strengths.
I have earned two Masters degrees in education as well as National Boards Certification. My GPA has been b ... read more

I love working with people and teaching them about the things that I am passionate about. I am very patient and throughout and I have learned a lot of valuable techniques such as asking the right questions to confirm that the student has learned the lesson as well as planning out what the important points are that I need to cover. I also try to illustrate points using a variety of learning styles that over time I can customize to individual students.
Between my studies at Roberts Wesleyan College in the liberal arts field, where I earned a bachelors degree, and my studies in math and computational science I have an exceptionally broad knowledge base. By being patient, upbeat, and interested in their topic of study, children will not have a problem taking risks in their learning. Science is learned through exploration. I believe a hands-on activity is the best approach to learning any subject.
