With normal class size groups... the goal is to provide a lesson with real educational content but to deliver it in a totally entertaining format... usually organizing the students into groups to a) provide support for the challenged and b) excitement for the total class as each group competes against the others. one-on-one teaching requires that the objective(s) be well established and then carefully focus on the individual student's best learning method, be it: verbal, written, reading, hands-on, or all of the above. While earning my bachelor's degree from Brown University, I taught middle school math and upper school English for two summers at Cushing Academy. My students varied widely in terms of previous experience and motivation, and I strove to approach each at his or her level and to think of each of them as individuals, never just a member of a homogeneous classroom. Last year, I taught middle school music at the Dana Hall School; some of my students had never played an instrument or sung in a choir, while others had years of experience. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with a BA from Rhode Island College in 2005, and went back to work on a MA the following fall. I am currently finishing up my degree and should be finished with my MA this spring. During my graduate career I had an assistantship where I helped set up classroom laboratories, aided in teaching then and also tutored students in Biology.
