I have experience as a tutor at an international boarding school. I was a math tutor and helped students with the three levels of mathematics which are offered as subjects for the International Baccalaureate program: mathematical studies, standard and higher level mathematics. Due the variety of levels of mathematics which was taught at my high school, my experience as a tutor has helped me learn how to find different approaches to explaining the material. I am a sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis studying biomedical engineering. I am a former Princeton Review ACT Teacher. My tutoring style focuses on understanding concepts, not simply getting the right answers. This emphasis improves retention and helps students apply their knowledge to new problems. I teach a variety of memorization techniques, but if the student understands a process or formula, memorization is often unnecessary. Whenever possible, I use hands-on exercises, manipulatives, and exploration to help students visualize abstract concepts and discover principles for themselves. I'm in my senior year of High School, I have worked with my siblings on their school all of my life. I've helped my little brother who has ADHD with his homework, I've worked with him through book projects, spelling tests, history homework, pretty much anything and everything.
