I believe in using the Socratic method. This method is a powerful tutoring device because it allows students to come up with the answers on their own. This is key to developing a full understanding of the material.
I am a sophomore at Washington University in St. Louis studying biomedical engineering. I am a former Princeton Review ACT Teacher. My tutoring style focuses on understanding concepts, not simply getting the right answers. This emphasis improves retention and helps students apply their knowledge to new problems. I teach a variety of memorization techniques, but if the student understands a process or formula, memorization is often unnecessary.
