I have been teaching in various forms for over ten years. I was a teaching assistant for four semesters in graduate school. I mentored and tutored people during my time as a Naval officer. I worked for Kaplan Inc for about a year, teaching almost all of their tests, including SAT, ACT, MCAT, LSAT, GRE, and GMAT. I taught mathematics and statistics at Parkland College for three years. I am currently employed as a full-time instructor at a government laboratory...but I'd like to teach more, in the late afternoons, evenings, and weekends!

I believe in taking a casual approach in tutoring. From previous experience, I have found that many times students understand the material but tend to get flustered in a classroom environment. I provide guidance when needed, but sometimes students just need someone there to talk it out with them. If this is the case I like to ask questions until they find the answers themselves. This method not only teaches them the material, but also builds confidence because they realize they can figure out much of it themselves.
I worked for Kankakee Community College for one year as a Math and Spanish tutor in 2006 and 2007. I graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a degree in Economics with a Business Administration minor. I started off as a Finance/Account major but switched after I took some economics courses as electives. With that being the case, most of my business admin credit hours came in accounting and finance. Additionally, I had credit hours in statistics and calculus as I felt that my time would be better spent in classes that would enhance my degree.
