A Little Bit About Me...

Started my college career as a Writing, Literature, and Publishing major, but transferred schools and switched majors to Sign Language Interpreting. For the past year I have been actively interpreting in the East Tennessee community, largely educational. Currently, I am a full-time interpreter for Knox County Schools. I work well with children/teens, and have experience tutoring pre-schoolers in reading, writing, letter recognition, etc.

I was a teaching assistant at North Georgia College and State University for three years. I assisted with laboratory sections of biology courses and taught them in the event of a professors absence. I provided department funded tutoring services during that time as well. I have taken the GRE and Biology Section of the GRE and received excellent scores on both tests in only one sitting. I have also coached 4H horse quiz bowl and horse judging teams for several years working with elementary and middle school age children.

A Little Bit About Me...

While teaching at Maryville Children's Academy in Maryville, Tennessee, I created learning activities for the Kindergarten Readiness and Four Year Old students. I also created the 2012 Space Curriculum for the preschool system. During my Internship/Student Teaching experience at Donald Yates Primary School and Ocooe Middle School I taught various subjects in the second grade, and I also taught Social Studies and Science in the sixth grade. Experienced ESL Instructor/Tutor

My teaching style is a mix of both teacher and student centered. There are times where it is important to give students the information they need as well as examples. Also, it is just as equally important to facilitate students initiating their own learning as this best helps with retaining and demonstrates true comprehension.
I have 10 years experience teaching ESL in various settings. Primarily my experience has been in K-12 public schools. However, I have experience in teaching adults and in tutoring adults, as well.
