I tutored an 8th grade-9th grade boy in TCAPS preparation and helped him complete homework in Math (pre-algebra, algebra, and pre-geometry), Science (biology), and English. I tutored him for two years. After I graduated high school I was accepted to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where I am currently in the spring semester of my sophomore year. I will be returning to Johnson City this summer and am available to tutor. I excelled in grammar, art, health, and science as well. I was a teacher at a private school for a year after college before I started a family and began home schooling. My daughter is now in the 8th grade and tests at the college level in reading and high school levels at most other subjects.

A Little Bit About Me...

In teaching childbirth classes as well as CPR and First Aid classes I have utilized lecture, audio-visuals, written materials, and demonstration/return demonstration methods of teaching. I have found that each individual has his or her own learning style and I like to tailor the class to the individual's style as much as possible. I do believe that some type of return demonstration, whether it be verbal, hands-on, or written, is an effective way to assess the student's mastery of the subject.
As a childbirth educator I have developed and taught perinatal classes to adults of all levels of education. Teaching CPR and First Aid classes has given me the opportunity to work with lay and health professionals and tailor the teaching style to meet the needs of the individual student. A Little Bit About Me...

I have found that children are very comfortable with me, which makes the learning process flow more smoothly. I was trained to discover the problems that prevent children from learning to read and absorb written material. Children learn in different ways, and I try to individualize my teaching methods to suit the individual child.
After earning my teaching degree in English, I gained some middle school and high school teaching experience, then took a different path for some years.
