Illustrator and visual arts instructor

Hello! I admire all things in the visual arts field and most importantly educating those that are interested or have the desire to enhance their artistic creativity. I am a recent graduate from the VCU arts program, the number one public arts school in the nation. During my time there, as well as after graduation, I have taught a variety of art class to mostly younger age children and early adolescence. I am currently an art instructor at the Loudon arts center, but I have a lot of free time and would love to spend that helping others with the arts.
My goal is not to tell you what to do, but to find your personal solutions with your artwork. As far as teaching digital design, I have worked with Adobe creative suite for five years now and can help you figure out accurate solutions in Photoshop, illustrator, and in design while creating your work.

Graphic Designers are creative problem solvers.

I am all about a hands on learning experience. I have the student take thorough notes about the programs I teach so they can go back and learn on their own. Graphic design is all about problem solving so I challenge my students to figure out the solution in a creative way where they will retain the information.
I have been a Graphic Designer since 2008 specializing in Print Media. I have an expert knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop. I work full time as a Graphic Designer and Part Time as an after school Elementary Art instructor (teaching drawing and cartooning). Art is my passion. I was enrolled in private drawing lessons at the age of 8 and continued to study fine art through college. I paint and draw and craft for fun.

My comments on tutoring Creative Arts : As an expert and a paid professional in the arts, I am able to teach/tutor this relevancy scope.

I believe in tutoring so that the child receives feedback and fully understands his/her own limitations and how to overcome obstacles in class. Many children lack positivity in the methodology! I also believe that using art instruction helps children to learn in a more creative manner.
I have over of 30 years of progressive experience in tutoring young children in the elementary years of education in all subject matter areas. My specialty is literacy and reading, but I am also adept in teaching all of the math curricula as well. I also firmly believe that teaching organizational skills and proper research methodologies are very important for the classroom today--and every child needs these skills in order to excel in the classroom and survive. I am also a qualified art teacher in the NOVA area.
