Russian for beginners from an American who lived there

In the USA, I have had 11 years of experience teaching English at the high school level and four years of experience in teaching English at the college level. I earned an M.A. in English from Marquette University. In Russia I had five years of experience in teaching college English classes and giving private English lessons to children and teenagers. After taking Russian classes at a small college, I went to Russia in 1995 and lived there until 2000, studying Russian every day with a private tutor.

I have recently graduated from Flinders University in South Australia with a MA (Teaching) of Secondary Special Education & year 6-12 Social Studies. In order to earn my degree, I completed two full time years of study and two ten week long formal teaching practicums where I taught a full (standard) course load in two grade levels of English, Social Studies, Health and Cross curriculum studies. I was a part time Aboriginal Education Officer at the Australian Mathematics & Science School, where I taught groups of students different English language and study skills. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated Cum Laude from UW-Oshkosh with a BS in Education, Early Childhood – Adolescence, with a Spanish Major and an ESL minor. In teaching, I've completed several diversity hours, students with special needs hours, clinical hours, teaching for Girl Pioneers, two weeks of seminar/teaching in Mexico, tutoring, as well as one semester of full time student teaching. I’ve taught several subjects and every grade from PK-12. Currently, I work as the Assistant Coordinator of a 21st century school program and as a Senior Line Therapist. My undergraduate degree and work experience was in criminal justice. Since retiring from the investigative field I have obtained my Masters in Education specializing in literacy and learning in the content areas. I have been teaching full time in South Korea for the last four years. I started out teaching young learners phonics for one year, English conversation to high school students full time for one year. The last two years have been with third through sixth grade elementary students in a public school.
