A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored at DSCC and at MSU. I have taught at MSU. I have earned a bachelor degrees, BS in agriculture and MS in Agriculture, which has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers and laboratory reports, along with essays in many various areas of study. During the last eight years I have tutored students in animal science, psychology, the arts, mathematics, and sciences.
I do the notecard stlye of tutoring and I do the repetition type of studying. I love teaching our youth. I am a strong believer in teaching a student how to learn. By that I mean, students not only need to know a specific subject matter but also how to aquire and use knowledge. My background is mostly in math and it is what I enjoy teaching the most. I like to use manipulatives to teach. I think students learn better if they have a "hands-on" approach.

I have a BS in biology, however I have a passion for teaching. In 2006, I was a Teach Tennessee fellow. This program's intent is to fast track degreed professionals into an education career. I spent some time teaching in the public school system. I had to resign my postion, due to family a family situation. I continued my work as a substitute teacher. I love working with students and appreciate the moment when they finally understand a concept with which they have struggled.
