As a Midway College graduate, I held high standards in achieving a level of excellence in education.I have earned a BS in Arts, which has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of organizing, implementing, evaluating, management,and other related disciplines. As of February 2011 I will begin work on an MBA degree at Midway College. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers, essays and reports in a variety of areas of study. During the last six years I have been substitute teaching arts and science to K - 12. I approach teaching and tutoring as an exercise in problem solving. It requires assessment of the student's background, previously mastered skills, learning style, and engagement with the content. I believe that anyone can be taught anything; the key is developing an engaged, encouraged student with the fundamental knowledge to grasp the concepts at hand. Sometimes this requires remediation of specific skills. Other times, a student needs to understand the big picture so concepts can take root. Some students may require a visual demonstration while others master concepts best by diving head first into the content and asking questions when they arrive at a sticking point.
