As an educator, my understanding and approach to learning comes from placing myself in the perspective of the student. Therefore, student's opinion on coursework needs to be heard in order to create effective learning goals. I believe this will increase a student's motivation and connection to the material. Connections, which are endless and create concrete understanding for students. I am very passionate, easy going and understanding of students. Although, I set the highest expectations because I believe the student can achieve them. Each student can succeed and they will.
The University of Delaware has integrated me into the education field with a variety of experiences. A Little Bit About Me...

When I graduated with my Bachelor of Science degree in 2002, I accepted a job at a small school in upstate NY that needed a PE teacher. I quickly learned to just relax and "go with the flow" of how the students learned the material and what kind of different activities that we could do to "drive home" the concept of what we were studying. I also learned to be very flexible. I wore many many different hats that first year of teaching which has given me to experience I needed in my recent years of teaching. I am passionate about sports, athletics, history and teaching as a whole!
As I mentioned in the above paragraph, I meet the child where they are in their learning style. I can adapt to how they learn best and then use different activities and tools to again, "drive home" the concept of what the child may be struggling with. I love teaching anything!

A Little Bit About Me...

As a non-traditional student I gave a good deal of thought as to what career to go into. I love working with students and enjoy providing an environment that is customized based on the student's individual learning style. I believe all students have a desire to succeed, but frequently struggling students have lost touch with that part of themselves. I would like to offer students an opportunity to reach their maximum potential. I have personally witnessed students transformed when they found a personal connection with the materials they are studying.
I graduated with honors with my AA from ACCC and maintained a 3.4 at Stockton College. While in school as a non-trad. student I have been a full time sub. teacher at Mainland Regional and Ocean City High Schools subbing for 9 years.I have worked with students of all ability levels from the special needs to gifted students. I received my first tutoring credential in the early 1970's specializing in prep-school placement tests, college-board prep etc. While attending Grad-School (Temple University) in the mid-70's; I worked as a substitute teacher in the Arch-Diocese of Phila. on a high-school level, primarily instructing History. A Little Bit About Me...

I recently graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelors in Science. My major was public health and I minored in biology and psychology. Throughout my college career, I have participated in many community service clubs and worked at a tutoring center where I helped college students with their weekly writing assignments. It was my responsibility to help them with their grammar, writing topics, and reading comprehension. I was able to help them grow into stronger and more creative writers.
I enjoy tutoring students and seeing them succeed. When they do well, it makes me feel like I have succeeded too. I believe teaching is very rewarding and it is important to take time and be cooperative with students in order to help them.

Although I like working as a Substitute Teacher in the classroom setting and believe that all children are able to learn. I loved the tutoring role that I played. The one on one teacher/student situation is most enjoyable for me. I am a strong believer in all children can learn since I am dyslexic and have through my career as a student learned to use many different approaches to learning. I also use my own learning difficulties and experiences as examples for the students I am involved with. As a healthcare consultant with an associate degree in Management and bachelor degree in Business Administration, I spent much of my time writing, presenting, and educating. I taught all levels of hospital personnel how to improve operations and use their new computer systems in both classroom and private sessions. I did some private tutoring last summer. I am an approved substitute teacher for the Indian River School District.
Many students have difficulty in a classroom setting because the teacher teaches one way, while not all students learn the same way.
