Dyslexia is one of my top subjects! I have training and certification in multisensory learning techniques. I apply some of these techniques to even on-level students if they have a weaknesses in reading, writing, and/or spelling.

I have a student-centered teaching style. That means I see at what level the student is and meet him/her at that level. Then we together move up to where he/she needs to be.
I have taught for many years in all levels of secondary school, alternative schools, and tutoring centers.I eat, sleep, and drink tutoring as I tutor every day during the school year and do lots of research to help my kids in whatever academic subject is causing them difficulty. A Little Bit About Me...

I began working as a Water Safety Instructor when I was 16 and taught swimming to people age 3 to age 76. I worked as a Teacher's Assistant at West Virginia university and taught my own section of a one credit course required of all freshmen students while working on a BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. While working on my MA in English Literature with a Certificate in Folklore at George Mason university, I worked as a substitute teacher and then was hired as a full time middle school English teacher. I worked as a middle school English teacher until April 2010.
I have a passion for working individually with students to find their personal learning styles so that they can succeed and excel academically. I am currently a student at East Stroudsburg University, studying special education and psychology. I am just finished my first semester of student teaching and will be completing the second one in the fall, graduating in December. I have completed several hours tutoring for college of the past 3 years. I have also had two student teaching placements already. The first was in a third grade inclusion setting and the second in a k-2 life skills room. In both settings I was teaching all subjects on several different levels.
