I have taught private music lessons since 2006. My primary instrument is piano. I have tutored English, Math and Science for the last 3 years. My students have achieved fantastic results. Although I do not teach to tests or scores of any kind, but only to the needs I see in the student, I have been amazed at how quickly t it reflects on their scores, and more importantly, on their self-confidence and motivation. I graduated in 1999 from NMSU with a degree in Elem/Spec Education. While attending school, I worked in a group home for troubled teens and at a facility for adults with disabilities. But my desire to teach children led me to tutoring at a private non-profit school for K-12. I worked there two years before starting to work at a facility for troubled youth. I worked there for one term before they closed down, and then started working with treatment foster care children through Mesilla Valley Hospital, a facility for children and adults with mental disorders. Last year I returned to school to get my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Recently I retired, but am continuing to work on completing my degree.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love to work with children and help them to learn. I have the desire to instill in their hearts the desire to grow in knowledge and maturity. My goal is for them to do better in school by trying hard and not giving up. I try to do this using several different methods, such as direct instruction, hands on activity, question and answer, guided and oral reading, use of examples, step by step instruction, positive reward system, and teamwork. I know that a positive attitude and willingness to do my part makes a difference for them to want to do it, so I try hard to be positive. My goal is to get them to be positive, to work hard to achieve, and to be satisfied with the end results.
