A Little Bit About Me...

I have always been interested in helping students like me who struggle in the math and science courses. As such, I have started tutoring during my high school days and armed with several years of experience, I intend to help more and more students as I go onwards to getting my Master's degree in Microbiology. I am currently majoring in Microbiology with minor concentrations in Chemistry and Japanese.
I have performed tutorial sessions on arithmetic subjects like algebra, geometry, and calculus. Also, I am familiar with the physical and life sciences like general biology, microbiology, genetics, general chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry. I make tutoring fun and "doable" even for the hardest of classes, according to my students. I have tutored several students who have struggled through anxiety regarding the harder subjects of the math and sciences but successfully receiv ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a trainer and coach, I work with diverse groups (age, background, education, etc.) and utilize varied styles to meet the needs of the participants. Adult learners need to connect past knowledge with new discoveries and have a sense that what they are learning will benefit them in some way, children need to experience, touch and incorporate their senses into their learning. All in all, I alter my teaching to meet the needs of my students.
With over 35 years of work experience, 20 years of volunteering to children and their parents, a BA in education and a MA in management, my experiences are diverse and have allowed me to utilize and grow my skills and gifts. I believe in life-long learning and empowering others to accomplish their goals. I have a sense or ingrained need to be dedicated to something outside of myself. Helping others, especially as it relates to either ch ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Every student can learn with motivation. Most of my classes were self-paced, and I had great success in motivating students of all types. My most recent position was teaching science to at-risk high school students who averaged 4th grade levels in reading and math. Every participating student earned credits in science, a first for most of them. My interest in them as individuals and willingness to give each one of them my attention, then let them take charge of their own learning, paid off in results of which I'm very proud. I encourage an environment conducive to learning; I am open to any approach that works for my students; and I believe patience trumps time-tables.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is Socratic in method. I have learned a large variety of techniques to help teach some of the most basic to the most advanced concepts to a large audience of students. I like to mold my teaching style to fit with each individual student. As a teacher of special-needs and emotionally handicapped children, I have learned techniques that make me a formidable teacher in any environment, so long as I am familiar with the material. I work hard for my students, and am not willing to have them do anything that I would not do myself.
I attended Northern Arizona University, whereupon I fell in love with sociology. I have a firm grasp of basic and advanced sociological concepts, specializing in historical analysis and research methods. After school, I spent my time working temporary jobs, and found one that I thoroughly enjoyed. At Wyko I aquired a set of technical sk ... read more

Here is Some Good Information About Continuing Education Tutoring

General continuing education is similar to adult education, at least in being intended for adult learners, especially those beyond traditional undergraduate college or university age. However, it is not normally considered to include basic instruction such as literacy, English language skills, or programs such as vocational training or GED preparation. Instead, as the term suggests, it is assumed that the student already has an education and is simply continuing it. Continuing your education? Going back to the workforce?
