A Little Bit About Me...

I stumbled upon the joy of teaching as I helped others learn to dive recreationally in my early 20’s. When I began my real estate career, I worked primarily with first time home buyers, whom I educated constantly. With the housing market collapse my desire to instruct in this manner grew as I segued into the insurance industry, and was given an opportunity to open a branch office and personally train over 50 agents in a one on one capacity over the course of two years. I still currently educate a class of insurance agents every few weeks on the complexity of products available to individuals in the market, and how to sell them, while sharing a few life lessons along the way. I am happy to share my book of individual student evaluations.

More About This Tutor...

Hey there. I am a medical school drop out. I have my bachelors in biology, with minors in botany, chemistry and economics. I wandered through many subjects and interest in school. I have tutored fellow students in my undergrad and in med school. I have a good understanding of algebra, economics, chemistry, physiology and writing papers. I cannot tell you I will be the best tutor on your roster, but I have crossed paths with many students that were ready to throw in the towel and have helped them bring their average to a b level before the semester was out.
I do enjoy helping students with their problems. I have a technique of visualization. for example, which is the first example I use. I tell the student to think of a tree. in the seconds you think of a tree, you don't think of just the tree. you think of the roots, the trunk, the limbs, the branches, the leaves. then you think o ... read more

I like to get to know the weaknesses of each of my students to get a common ground with them first. Then i try to break down the subject as simple as i can. I like to work with all ages. A Little Bit About Me...

I don't think I can claim a specific teaching "style" just yet; I simply don't have enough experience to define myself in that regard. Besides, no single "style" or method is going to work with any given student. Everyone is different. My sales background gave me the chance to hone my skills in reading a person, and then proceeding accordingly with each individual. What I hope to do is engage a student in a conversation about the topic, and get their interest in that manner. I am laid-back and very easy to talk to, with a passion for making history as fun as possible. I'm 28 and relate well to kids. History sometimes gets labeled (unfairly) as "boring", when in fact it is the most fun! As a tutor, I hope to share my enthusiasm.
At the moment, my experience is admittedly limited. I graduated with a History degree from UGA. I was a substitute teacher at Savannah Country Day ... read more

More About This Tutor...

Since I've been tutoring, I have a saying that you already know what you know, so let's not worry about what you know but worry about what you don't know. I believe that everybody can relate to any subject if they can relate the subject to something the individual finds interesting. I am very patient and determined in not only helping a student find the answer but also wanting the student to know the method of finding the answer and being able to find the answer on their own in the future.
While attending Columbus State University, I volunteered by tutoring 2nd through 6th graders at the local Columbus Community Center. During which I also maintained a 3.00 GPA and graduated with a B.A. in Finance. While in college I found math to be my best subject and the area seemed to come to me as though it was second hand nature. In college, my degree required classes such as college algebr ... read more
