Hands on teaching style
I am young creative and talented artist perfecting my craft everyday. I started dealing with computers in 2005 when I was in high school studying computer programming. When I graduated I moved to the major of graphic design, when I got to college it showed me that I really had a love for art. Production wise I have completed many projects of promotional and marketing advertisements. Advertising is one of my major strengths also photo touchup/manipulation. Drawing is one of my top subjects! I was a student with the Art Instruction Schools in 2011, and maintained and completed the course with an A average in 2013. Though I am currently a self-taught student developing my traditional art skills, I am able to teach students in basic cartooning anatomy, and color theory.

When I was learning how to draw, I started out copying drawings of characters that I saw in books and TV and used what I saw to draw my own characters soon after. That was "fine" but I realized over time that it was not enough to simply "see" something drawn a type of way, but that I needed to understand "why" it was drawn that way. I feel as though the best way to teach a student is to first tackle the subject that they enjoy drawing the most, in this case character design, so that they'll be more interested in the lesson. Then break down what makes the figure look that way and how it's done so that they will have the skill and experience to pull original ideas, poses, and designs from their own memory. My comments on tutoring Drawing : Advanced Placement art, Junior and Senior year, with a 5 on both portfolios. Continued in art clubs while at the University of Michigan, although I was accepted to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, I opted to "go blue!" for a liberal arts education. Art continued to be my life, and as soon as I was hired at Blackboard Inc. in 2003, I taught myself the entire Adobe Creative Suite, and have been a graphic designer for 10 years. As well as multi-media artist, and tutor/instructor.

While I was a Rotary Exchange Student – South Africa | 1999-2000, I volunteered to tutor students of various ages every subject, except Afrikaans, and was very pleased with their progress, and enjoyed it. Individualized learning/teaching for optimal comprehension

I started tutoring in my teens helping young children with Autism Spectrum Disorders develop English and Math skills as well as speech therapy and public speaking. I tutored my fellow students while attending Carroll Community College in English 101 and 102 as well as Creative Writing. I then moved on to being a one on one with high school students with special needs in the Baltimore area.
I take a hands on material approach to learning/teaching. I like to draw students out with questions and get them thinking for themselves. In order to handle situations in the real world one needs appropriate problem solving skills. When I show something to a student I want them to repeat what I've just done and then explain why this works - but I want them to also try and find another way that will work. (If there is one)
I have worked in the graphic design/advertising field for 10 years and have been drawing all my life. I run the gamut from Photoshop and Illustrator to pencil, charcoal and watercolor. I think it's important to know how to build a file well so that it is enabled for printing, while not compromising creativity. With drawing it is important to draw what you see before you can invent. Anatomy is important.

Resident Artist and an ASL PRO.

For art, I give direction, let students paint or do art however they want, then I help if needed. I give them pointers and tips for making their pieces better. Art is really how the artist sees it and what they like in the long run. In Sign language, I teach them songs to sign too from the radio and also teach words then becoming sentences. Within a two week period you can learn up to 100 words and a song.
