My tutoring career began as an honors research student in college. I shared my skills and passion for French and history in plain and easy to grasp concepts that even helped "non-language" types to succeed. Furthering my foundation in teaching methods I pursued my Master's degree in teaching a second language while serving as a graduate. I accepted a fellowship to teach middle school and high school on the French speaking island of Guadeloupe in the Caribbean for one year where I taught English conversation and American Culture. I enjoy helping people learn something new. I think anyone can do anything they put their mind to. I would allow the student time to get to know me so they would feel comfortable with me. Students sometimes feel too vulnerable to try things when they don't know someone because they do not want to make mistakes. I would let them know that the only way to get better at something is to make mistakes so they can learn from those mistakes by making the appropriate corrections. Confidence is key. Positive work ethics allow me to help and give students the confidence necessary to complete anything put before them.

I like to use a lot of visual supports, use scenarios or puppet shows (for young children) to have interaction in the language. As a native speaker I easily improvise when the student(s) show a specific interest. The culture is also very important to have a better grasp of the language. I always try to show students cultural aspects or differences while teaching.
I was a substitute teacher for Elkton High School, during the year 2006 and 2007. I taught French I - IV and other courses as required. I taught Italian and French at two community colleges from 2004 to 2006. I have also tutored French and other subjects since 1998 in France and the United States.
