I Have been a teacher since 2002. I have had various experience in teaching students diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, OCD, PDD, ODD, as well as other learning, social, emotional, and behavioral disabilities. My comments on tutoring Poetry : In poetry, my knowledge is more towards the technical rather than aesthetic aspect.

I employ the Socratic method of asking lots and lots of questions. I see a tutorial as not a time for a student to soak up information, but to engage the mind and use the tools he has already been given. Of course, if a student truly doesn't know something crucial, I will tell him. I always try to make my instruction at least a little bit funny, and to connect the material to the student's interests, because these factors are known to enhance learning.
I have five years' experience as a writing tutor at my university, during which I wrote and presented papers at multiple regional conferences for university writing tutors. I rose to become one of the most respected and requested tutors out of my peers. I many credit hours of pedagogy and teaching methodology classes, both for Teaching ESL and Latin, and a semester of student teaching under my belt.

Set Realistic Goals and Rewards Create realistic, individual goals for all of your students. It's nice to have a classroom goal so students feel like they are working together, encouraging one another. However, it's more important to give each student an attainable goal that's personalized for their educational needs, such as completing homework assignments on time or checking over an assignment before they turn it in. Tutor - Writing, Reading, GED Prep

My teaching style is patient, relaxed, and supportive. I tend to tailor my methods to the needs and personality of the student.
I worked for two years at the Cleveland State University Writing Center where I tutored writing and reading comprehension to undergraduate and graduate students of many academic backgrounds.
