When helping students learn and understand material I believe it is important to first gain the student's trust, so they will not resist receiving help. I am a recent college graduate and find that it is easier to relate to, communicate with, and gain the trust of students, since I was in their position not long ago. Since high school I've been working with my peers to help clarify subject matter, as that was my favorite method of study. In college I tutored under-classmen in Spanish, chemistry, and political science. Since graduating, I've worked with college freshmen as a writing tutor and with middle school students to teach algebra and pre-algebra.
