I have been teaching 8th grade math(pre-Algebra,Algebra,Geometry) for 10 years. I have been very successful in improving students scores. Last year my pre-algebra students made a growth of 6.55 according to Evaas score data. If the student doesn't understand the first time I explain something, I will explain it in a different way and will keep explaining it in different ways until he/she fully understands what's being taught. It is important to explain the underlining principle in the problem so the student will be able to solve similar problems without just memorizing a few rules.
